About this place
Ise Miyachu has been making shrine cabinets and ritual implements in front of the Outer Shrine for 80 years, and this is its shop in Okage Yokocho. The household altars are built from natural Kiso cypress in the yuiitsu shinmei-zukuri style of the Ise Grand Shrine's main sanctuary. Altars and ritual tools alike are finished by hand by Ise shrine carpenters and are designated a traditional craft of Mie Prefecture, and the shop also carries salt-mound sets bearing the protective marks that ama divers of Ise-Shima have long drawn, along with flint-and-steel sets.
