About this place

The deity here guards the Uji Bridge, and the shrine faces it from across the road. In the periodic rebuilding of Jingu it is the first of the 125 shrines to be renewed, ahead of the bridge itself. The name Aedo means ground where a feast is held to keep evil from entering. Tsunaga-jinja stands 20 m away and Omizu-jinja 50 m; seven of the 125 shrines are gathered in this one corner.
