On the hill east of Ochiai, where the Isuzu and Asakuma rivers meet. First in rank among the 27 sessha of Naiku, its rites are conducted on the same footing as those of an auxiliary shrine. The three deities enshrined here govern the grain and water of the Asakuma plain. Asakuma-Mimae-jinja, second in rank, stands on the same grounds; the correct order is to visit Asakuma-jinja first. Long known for its cherry blossom, it was praised in verse by the poet Saigyo.
