About this place

A grove surrounded by vineyards. The 'shimo' (lower) in the name sets it against Kamo-jinja, which stands halfway up the mountain while this one sits at its foot; the two shrines, 2.5 km apart, share a deity. The three enshrined here govern the water and irrigation of the Katsuta district, and the shrine ranks first among the sixteen massha of Naiku.
