About this place
In a corner of the Tokiwa residential district. The deity governs the irrigation water for the fields nearby. The name combines iba, a weir, with kiyono, the open moorland that once spread here. Its rites lapsed at the end of the medieval period and even the site was lost; the shrine was re-established here in 1663. Some hold that the original grounds were at Ima-no-yashiro, in what is now the Takayanagi shopping street.
