At Kamiyashiro harbour, once the seaward gateway to Ise. The moat around the grounds is what remains of an inlet through which seawater used to flow. The deity presides over the offerings of seafood landed here and sent to Jingu. A stone basin shaped like a boat faces the sanctuary, and the well in the precinct, Tatsu-no-i, has long been trusted as a guardian against fire. On the first Day of the Dragon of the new year, water drawn from that well is handed out to worshippers in a rite called omizutori.
