Enshrined deityMiyanomeguri-no-Kami, guardian of the four bounds of the sacred precinct
About this place

South of the Kujoden hall, on a raised step where a single sakaki tree stands and nothing else. Shishi means the four bounds of the sacred ground, and the deity guards the precinct as a whole. Some visitors bow to the stone at the foot of the tree, but the stone is not the object of worship. Sixteen separate places of worship were brought together here in the Meiji period.
