About this place

Alone among the 16 sessha of Geku, this shrine stands on the far side of the Miyagawa river. It sits in the Motomachi settlement of Obata, which still shows traces of a post town on the old pilgrimage road, alongside Saiko-ji temple and Yahashira-jinja. Its sanctuary is rebuilt every twenty years with the shikinen sengu. The deity governs the harvest and is known affectionately here as Iname-san.
