About this place
A shrine hemmed in by rice fields, known locally as Ame-no-miya, the shrine of rain: in a long drought people came here to pray for it. A water deity is enshrined here, and the sacred object is a stone. The Arakida family, who opened the sacred rice land of Naiku, had their seat here and honoured this shrine as their own. The present sanctuary was built in 1880 from timber salvaged from the storehouses of Mishiodono-jinja.
