About this place

In a stand of trees facing the Miyagawa river, with the sound of the water running through the grounds. The shrine was founded, tradition says, after the local deity showed Princess Yamatohime where she could cross a torrent that had stopped her. Unusually for a shrine of this rank, it has an offertory box. Over the Misezaka pass on the old Kumano road it is about an hour and a quarter to Takihara-no-miya, and the landing of the Mise ferry lies 150 m away.
