About this place

The sanctuary stands on a rise looking down on an irrigation pond, its grounds ringed by dry-stone walling. The place name Tsumuro means a burial ground: the graves of the Arakida family, who served as priests of Naiku, lie at the foot of the hill. Two deities of the water of the fields are enshrined here. The way in is hard to find — from the sign in the village, head south and look for the rise on your left.
