About this place

At the south-eastern edge of Mount Takakura, inside the Geku forest. It does not connect to the Geku approach; visitors must step outside the precinct and come around. The deity is that of the hill overlooking the sacred rice fields of Geku, and also of the spring that waters them. The sue in its name means the summit, not the foot, of the hill. Its torii faces not the approach but the stone wall — an oddity visitors tend to notice.
