About this place
The estate where the silk cloth, nigitae, offered at the Kanmiso festival is woven. In the grounds stands the Yahirodono, a weaving hall larger than the sanctuary itself; at the start of May and October local women take their places at the looms in white robes and hakama. The thread is akabiki silk from Mikawa. The weaving is designated an intangible folk asset by the city of Matsusaka, and locally the shrine is called Shimo-Hataden, the lower weaving hall.
