About this place

Reached by crossing the Kazahinomi-no-miya bridge on the path beyond Naiku's kagura hall, this shrine is dedicated to the deities of wind and rain. Once a minor shrine, it was raised to auxiliary rank after the Mongol invasion of 1281, when the wind that scattered the fleet was credited to it. The same deities are enshrined at Kaze-no-miya at Geku.
